First Steps Academy uses the A Beka curriculum, supplemented with the Beyond Cribs and Rattles curriculum for infants, toddlers, and children in K2 classes, and with WEE Learn curriculum for children in K3 classes and VPK. In addition to this curriculum, all of the teachers at First Steps emphasize phonetics, alphabet and number recognition, health, safety, manners, and dramatic play. The First Steps model eliminates the phone tag and hard work for members. Parents no longer play the waiting game and sitters pick and choose the jobs that best suit them. Requests are reached by hundreds of sitters with just one click and direct contact information of the matched sitter is provided almost instantly. First Steps will facilitate a collaborative community partnership for measurably improving the early childhood development of all children in Pickens County. Help the children of Pickens County be Ready for School. Since 1978, First Step has been working for peaceful families and safe communities in Wayne County, Michigan. First Step is the only non-profit agency in out-Wayne County providing comprehensive services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. We're working on something.

Eligibility
Families with children ages birth to third birthday who are experiencing developmental delays and/or have a diagnosed condition that has a high probability of resulting in developmental delay may be eligible for First Steps services.
